STEP 1: CLINICAL EXAMINATION AND TREATMENT PLANNING

WORLDWIDE DENTAL AND PLASTIC SURGERY is equipped with the latest advanced techniques and equipment for implant placement, such as the new generation SIDEXIS 4 3D Cone-Beam CT scanner, and the Nobel Guide Implant-Guided Surgery with Nobel clinician software to perform virtual surgery on the computer, to ensure accurate, fast implant placement, and also to allow patients to understand the entire process visually through the images displayed on the computer.

Dentists conduct comprehensive oral examinations for patients to determine the clinical indication for implant surgery (10-20 minutes). Dentists review the CT scan to assess the quality and quantity of bone for implant placement, decide on cases requiring bone grafting or sinus lift, use the NOBEL CLINICIAN surgical guide software to perform virtual surgery in a 3D environment, and select the appropriate implant position and size. From this, Dentists develop a treatment plan for patients, including the implant placement and the subsequent prosthetic restoration (30 minutes).

Based on the virtual surgery and the established treatment plan, the dentist analyzes and explains the procedural steps to the patient, and obtains the patient’s agreement on the treatment plan (20 minutes). Using the CT scan data with the i-CAT Vision software and CAD/CAM technology, the center’s laboratory will fabricate a surgical guide (if necessary) to assist in the accurate and expedient surgical procedure in the patient’s mouth.

STEP 2: IMPLANT PLACEMENT SURGERY (MINOR SURGERY)

The doctor performs a minor surgery to place the implant into the jawbone. For each implant, it takes 10-15 minutes to complete the procedure. In cases of implant placement in the front tooth area, patients will be provided with a temporary tooth immediately after the surgery, allowing them to communicate normally in social situations.

In some cases, such as long-term tooth loss, older age, or poor bone quality, additional procedures like sinus lifting, bone grafting, or other supportive techniques may be required during implant placement. Dr. Do Dinh Hung and his associates are experts in dental surgery and have extensive experience in this field. Sinus lifting and bone grafting procedures are performed quickly, gently, and achieve a high success rate.

In certain cases, general anesthesia may be requested during the implant placement, sinus lifting, or bone grafting surgery, and this will be performed under the supervision of anesthesia specialists. The anesthesia technique will help the patient relax while the team of experts operates.

After the implant placement, it typically takes 3-6 months for the bone to integrate around the implant, providing a secure and stable foundation within the jawbone. The healing time may take 3 months for patients with 6-month tooth loss.

In some cases, people with good overall health and strong bone quality, immediate fixed prosthetic restoration can be performed immediately after implant placement.

PHASE 2: PROSTHETIC RESTORATION ON IMPLANT

The prosthetic restoration on an implant involves two steps:

STEP 1: PLACEMENT OF HEALING ABUTMENT ON THE IMPLANT

Typically, after about 4-6 months of implant placement, the patient will be scheduled for a follow-up appointment and x-ray examination.

Afterward, the dentist will place a healing abutment (healing cap) on the implant, and it will take 1 to 2 weeks for the gum tissue to develop around the healing abutment to ensure high aesthetic quality for the prosthetic restoration on the implant, similar to a natural tooth.

In many cases with good bone quality, the dentist has already proceeded to place the healing cap immediately after the implant placement. Therefore, the patient will not lose time for this step.

STEP 2: DEFINITIVE PROSTHETIC RESTORATION ON THE IMPLANT:

At the second appointment (1 to 2 weeks after the healing abutment placement):

The dentist will proceed to place an Impression Coping and take an impression using specialized materials and tools for the prosthetic restoration on the Implant (or using an intraoral scanner in cases of prosthetic restoration on 1 to 3 Implants), while also selecting the color of the ceramic crown to match your natural tooth color.

Based on the pre-established prosthetic restoration plan and all the data mentioned above, the information will be transferred to the dental laboratory of the center. The ceramic crowns on the Implant will be fabricated at the in-house Lab using CAD/CAM technology (with the entire system of machines, equipment, and materials from Germany) within 24 hours (for 1 to 3 crowns) and 2 to 3 days for more Implants and complex cases.

At the third appointment: after the laboratory has completed the ceramic crowns, the dentist will try the crowns for you and then cement or screw the ceramic crowns onto the Implant(s).

You will have one (or more) new tooth(teeth) that are even better than you expected. The success of the Implant placement depends on many factors, the most important of which is the dentist’s professional expertise.
