A BONE GRAFTING ALTERNATIVE

Zygomatic implants are a revolutionary solution for those who have been told they lack enough bone mass to support dental implants. First introduced in Europe in 1988 and then in the United States in 1998, this procedure has a long-standing success rate for those with the most severe form of bone loss.

ZYGOMATIC IMPLANTS—HOW DO THEY WORK?

We implement the latest technology in all of our procedures and use a CBCT cone beam 3D scan with a detailed exam and consult to evaluate your sinuses and make sure the drainage passages are open.

Once we’ve fully evaluated your case and we’re ready to move forward, we anchor extra-long implants in the zygoma (the cheekbone), which is a thick and solid bone near the sinus. During this process, in addition to 1-2 zygoma implants, 2-4 regular implants are typically placed toward the front of the jaw, where the upper front teeth used to be.

WHO CAN PLACE ZYGOMATIC IMPLANTS IN VIETNAM?

The surgical skill involved in placing zygomatic implants requires extensive expertise, experience, and training, so the procedure isn’t common. However, at Dr. Hung & Associates Dental Center, our doctors have been formally trained in zygomatic placement and have perfected the craft of carefully placing each zygomatic implant.

DO ZYGOMATIC IMPLANTS HURT?

The discomfort associated with zygomatic implants is similar to regular bone grafting procedures. Your safety and comfort is our primary concern, and our doctors administer special anti-inflammatory medications via IV sedation, which reduces any post-operative pain. You may experience some degree of bruising, but most of our patients are surprised by how easy their recovery is. Any mild pain can be easily managed with over the counter pain medications, like Ibuprofen and Tylenol.

SEVERE BONE LOSS

The only facility to provide this cutting-edge technique in Vietnam, Dr. Hung & Associates Dental Center, offers life-changing zygomatic implants to those who have lost teeth in the upper jaw but are unable to have dental implants due to severe bone loss and lack of chewing strength, as shown here.

ATTACHING THE IMPLANTS

The Nobel Biocare firm has the solution: attach the implant into the cheekbones (zygoma) to resolve the missing teeth in the upper jaw with large maxillary sinus and severe alveolar bone loss. Here is an Xray film after Zygomatic implant placement.

ZYGOMATIC IMPLANT SUCCESS RATES

The success of Zygoma implants have been reported in many International Implant conferences and International medical journals. In many studies, the success rates can be up to 98% (see the following table).

For the first time in Vietnam, Dr.Hung & Associates Dental Center has applied this technique many times. It has proven to be successful for those patients who are missing teeth in their upper jaw, but implant placement wasn’t possible due to severe bone loss.
